Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Is Shamanism a religion?

No, it is not. Shamanism is a set of skills and practices based on knowledge of and navigation of a roadmap of our worlds - ordinary reality as well as the invisible spirit realms. Shamanism does not require belief in nor worship of a supreme being. Shamanism does not in any way contradict a religion such as Christianity.

Isn't an in-person session better than a remote session?

Actually, no, it is not. An in-person session is helpful in seeing what we each look like, what the treatment room looks like, the stones and other tools that we will be using during a session. We can handle those details in an initial video call or web session with video, so that you can get familiar with these visual parts of our relationship. Once a session starts, however, I actually prefer remote sessions because a shaman tracks your energy and for that a different kind of sight is needed, an energetic 'sight' if you will that is easier for me to track when my physical eyes are not also giving me signals.  You will find that once I open sacred space around both of us and draw your energy into my protective sphere, you will experience us as being together. For some clients we start wtih video and then in the session shut video off. For other clients, we work by phone.

Can a shaman work on me without my knowledge?

A shaman reads a client's luminous energy field and works on the field only with a client's permission. Sometimes there is spontaneous "tracking" but a shaman intentionally ignores this information. A shaman will not work on you without your knowledge and permission. That is considered sorcery.

How long does a shamanic session take?

Typically allow 1 hour for a shamanic session. Intake sessions may extend to 1.5 hours.

What should I wear to a shamanic session?

Wear comfortable clothing. There is an initial discussion time, and then you will be asked to lie down for the actual session.

What will be required of me in a session?

A shaman will guide you through the initial discussion time. You will be asked to use your breath for blowing or breathing deeply during a session. You will be asked for images that arise, and where you feel different responses in your body.

How much does a shaman session cost?

There is a wide variety in pricing for shamanic sessions, work and ceremonies. Our charges vary from $60 to $125 for a single encounter, and there are additional cost savings for booking a project rather than a single encounter. Please note that Pat and Doug work with you based on your ability to pay, with special consideration given to students and seniors.  Let's discuss this in your free online consultation or your first appointment.
